So last week I didn’t write a blog post. And honestly…this week isn’t looking so good either. I would like to level with you, book blog – I am out of books to blog about and Game of Thrones has completely taken over my life. I am in the middle of Clash of Kings right now and I have just taken a step back and realized how all consuming getting into these books has been. They are thousands of pages long, there are four of them now – come July it will be five. I am going to be totally immersed in this for A LONG TIME.
I often read more than one book at once, but reading Clash of Kings makes me not want to. When I’m not reading it, I’m thinking about the next time I will be and thinking about how many chapters I can get through and not even trying to guess what intricate political intrigue craziness is going to happen next. In fact, why am I not reading it right now? Because I have to write a blog post! But about what? Game of Thrones again?? Apparently.
I know my fellow book bloggers are not reading it and honestly at this point I don’t even know if I’d recommend tackling this beast. It’s awesome and there’s absolutely no way I could stop now even if I wanted to, but…wow. Be ready for a serious commitment.
It’s interesting getting into a new series like this – an adult series as an adult. It’s still fantasy, of course, but I’m missing the young adult part. It’s almost like I’m not as emotionally attached to the stories and the characters as I’m used to being. If you read my post about books I’ve cried over then you will understand what I’m talking about. I actually feel like a grownup when I read this book – that I can actually discuss the characters and events in a completely rational, non-biased matter. There’s a few I’m cheering for more than others, but it’s not really the end of the world for me no matter how it turns out. It’s a pretty interesting experience. It’s okay.
So anyway, for next week I am going to try to get some thoughts together for an actual nice post – though it certainly isn’t going to be a book review. Because I must read Clash of Kings and nothing else constantly. I think I have a disease – is there medication for this crazy Game of Thrones addiction?? Not that I’d take it if there was – I am not backing down now. I will make it through these books! And I will think of something to blog about for next week. I promise. Probably.
In the meantime, you should at least watch the TV show so you have something to talk about with me, haha.
P.S. Yes, that picture is Rainn Wilson from The Office sitting on the Iron Throne. It’s his Twitter picture. He’s also obsessed and would know exactly what I’m talking about here. Hodor!!
