“The Girl With All the Gifts” Is Getting a Film Adaptation Starring Glenn Close

Girl with All the Gifts

Last year’s near-perfect post-apocalyptic horror novel The Girl With All the Gifts (like all good and bad things) is being adapted into a film.

The adaptation — which is getting re-titled She Who Brings Gifts — will star Glenn Close, Gemma Arterton and Paddy Considine.

Even more exciting? The film will be directed by Colm McCarthy, who has worked on UK shows like “Peaky Blinders,” “Doctor Who” and “Sherlock.”

The story (which we read because Joss Whedon recommended it) follows a little girl named Melanie who lives inside a military bunker after the world is ravaged by the hungries and English citizens are fought to fight for humanity’s survival.

We’d tell you more about it, but we don’t want to spoil anything. It’s best to go into the book as blind as possible.

  1. […] Now, to No Spend April!  I’m only going to allot myself a very small amount of money to spend during the month, most of which are preplanned expenses.  Some of things I already have planned (and luckily some are already paid for!) are 1) seeing Lord of the Rings at Lincoln Center with Andrew, 2) travel costs for going home to celebrate Easter with my family and for attending Andrew’s cousin’s wedding, 3) Sakura Matsuri (I just posted photos from last years event yesterday!), 4) Melissa Grey’s book launch party for The Girl at Midnight at Books of Wonder (I already read my ARC and I love it so much and I simply cannot deny myself a beautiful hardcover finished copy under any circumstance), and 5) books I’ve already preordered such as The Sweetapolita Cookbook and the paperback version of The Girl with All the Gifts (which apparently is getting a film adaptation starring Glen Close!).
