Ommegang — the brewery known for their over-sized bottles and Game of Thrones themed beer — has announced the latest product in their Song of Ice and Fire line.
Despite being the sixth GoT beer made by the brewery, they’ve wrongly chosen to title their new creation Seven Kingdoms Hoppy Wheat Ale. We’re still pulling for you Mother of Flagons!
Inspired by the insane (read: very non-canon) nature of the latest season, brewers revealed that Seven Kingdoms is a not-so unholy alliance between a Belgian wheat and an American ale.
As they explained on their website:
Seven Kingdoms is a marriage of a traditional Belgian-style wheat and a hop-forward American ale – but unlike so many of the marriages on the show, the resulting hoppy wheat is pleasant, playful and inspired. At 6.9% (alcohol by volume) it possesses a nuanced complexity that pairs nicely with the hop-forward characteristics that make it surprisingly refreshing.
In addition to the forthcoming Seven Kingdoms, Ommegang has also produced Iron Throne Blonde Ale, Take the Black Stout, Fire and Blood Red Ale, Valar Morghulis Dubbel Ale and Three-Eyed Raven Dark Saison Ale.
More Westeros puns, please and thank you!
