Waiting on Wednesday: ‘Tales from the Darkside’ by Joe Hill

Tales from the Darkside #1Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly series hosted by Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming book releases we can’t wait to get our hands on.

For this week’s Waiting on Wednesday pick, we’re heading back into the world of comic books with the upcoming Tales from the Darkside mini-series from horror author Joe Hill.

Hill will once again be teaming up with his Locke & Key partner Gabriel Rodriguez for the four issue anthology horror series, a re-imagining of the ’80s television show.

Fun fact: the comics are actually based on the scripts Hill wrote for the planned Tales from the Darkside reboot that never came to fruition after the CW passed on the pilot.

IDW will publish the first issue of Tales from the Darkside in June!

Joe Hill’s nerve-shredding re-imagining of Tales from the Darkside never made it to your TV set…but the dead are restless and refuse to stay buried! This summer, IDW releases DARKSIDE, a four-issue comic-book adaptation of the episodes written by Hill and illustrated here by Locke & Key co-creator Gabriel Rodriguez! Three stories of the macabre and malevolent! One coulda-been, shoulda-been TV epic on paper with pictures that don’t move! Step out of the warm, sunlit world you think of as reality and get ready to take a chilling walk… on the DARKSIDE.

  1. Oh wow! Joe Hill has no luck with tv shows. I still wish the Locke & Key show had been a thing. Speaking of which, I’m so happy he’s teaming up with Gabriel Rodriguez again!

  2. OMG I love Joe Hill! I haven’t heard of this, but I’m psyched! Especially since he will be teaming back up with Gabriel Rodriguez. I can’t wait!!!!!!! Great WoW! 🙂

  3. WOW! I had no idea this was happening. I still need to read the last two Locke & Key (making mental note to reserve them from the library now), but this is definitely going on the wishlist. June isn’t too far away I guess, but wish it was closer.
