Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly series hosted by Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming book releases we can’t wait to get our hands on.
For this week’s Waiting on Wednesday pick, we went with something completely different than normal and chose the super fun sounding My Lady Jane, which blends historical fiction AND historical fantasy.
Written by not one, not two, but three authors (Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton and Jodi Meadows), the story has been described as a Princess Bride-esque take on the life of medieval Nine-Day Queen Lady Jane Grey. Spoilers?
My Lady Jane will be out way sooner than you expect on June 7, 2016 and we cannot wait to get our hands on it! Keep reading for the full synopsis.
The comical, fantastical, romantical, (not) entirely true story of Lady Jane Grey. In My Lady Jane, coauthors Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, and Jodi Meadows have created a one-of-a-kind fantasy in the tradition of The Princess Bride, featuring a reluctant king, an even more reluctant queen, a noble steed, and only a passing resemblance to actual history—because sometimes history needs a little help.
At sixteen, Lady Jane Grey is about to be married off to a stranger and caught up in a conspiracy to rob her cousin, King Edward, of his throne. But those trifling problems aren’t for Jane to worry about. Jane gets to be Queen of England.
Like that could go wrong.
I’m torn on this one! It sounds like it has potential but I’ve been hesitant since I heard about it for some reason.
It had really good reviews on GoodReads! Plus I can’t say no to some medieval young adult. =)
O.M.G.I love all three of those authors. I’m reading it for that alone. Amazing pick this week…
