5 Fandom Friday: Five Favorite Places to Read

Pushing Daisies Book

5 Fandom Friday is a weekly feature created by Super Space Chick and The Nerdy Girlie that aims to build a blogging community and foster online friendships.

Thankfully, this week’s topic — five favorite places to read — is right up my (and this blog’s) alley, because I have not taken part in this meme since February.

So without further ado, keep going for the top five places I love reading a good book! Spoilers: it’s everywhere.

1. Soaking in the Tub

There’s no better place to read than soaking in a hot bath, preferably with a nice bath bomb or some bubble bath, especially if you’ve mastered the art of keeping your reading material dry. It’s even better if you can get your book cover to match your bubble bar!

2. In Bed

I try to read at least one hour before going to sleep every night, so it comes as no surprise that in bed is one of my go to reading places. Not only is it super relaxing, but it’s also incredibly cozy, creating the perfect environment for book related dreaming.

3. On the Couch

Couch reading is equally cozy if you have the right accessories. Read: blankets, blankets and more blankets. It’s also easier to read and drink (preferably wine or hot chocolate) while sitting on a couch versus laying in bed.

4. While Cooking

This one may sound weird, but I find it incredibly relaxing to cook on the stove while reading — I think it may have something to do with the water sounds (see also reading in the bath). It may not work for complicated dishes, but it’s perfect for one pot recipes that really only involve occasionally stirring things like pasta.

5. Somewhere with a View

Spot number five is much harder to come by because the rental life isn’t really conducive to outdoor privacy. While I don’t have a porch or balcony that I feel comfortable reading on (yet), I love nothing more than reading by a pool, in a hammock or anywhere in the fresh air on a gorgeous day.

  1. I used to love reading while cooking! Now I basically only have the time to heat up Trader Joe’s frozen foods for dinner while I get other stuff done though since my commute is so long.
