Despite only being a brief two minutes, the official A Monster Calls trailer is already making us feel things.
Adapted from the Patrick Ness book of the same name, the story follows a boy named Conor who is struggling to cope with his mother’s battle with cancer, bullying at school, and a fantastical tree who comes to life at night.
Starring Liam Neeson (who voices the titular monster), Sigourney Weaver and Felicity Jones, you can catch the film in theatres on October 21, 2016.
Here’s hoping the beautiful visuals help rather than hinder the story — we’re looking at you The Lovely Bones adaptation!
A visually spectacular drama from acclaimed director Juan Antonio Bayona (“The Impossible”), based on the award-winning children’s fantasy novel. 12-year-old Conor (Lewis MacDougall) attempts to deal with his mother’s (Felicity Jones) illness and the bullying of his classmates by escaping into a fantastical world of monsters and fairy tales that explore courage, loss, and faith.
