The Wee Free Men — Terry Pratchett’s first young adult novel about Tiffany Aching — is being adapted into a feature-length film by the Jim Henson Company.
The story follows junior witch Tiffany and her friendship with the Nac Mac Feegle, read: what would happen if William Wallace bred with some Smurfs.
And if anyone can bring six-inch tall blue men to life it’s Jim Henson’s creature shop!
Said Rhianna Pratchett, the author’s daughter and the film’s screen writer of the news: “I’ve loved the Jim Henson Company’s work all my life, so it’s a great honor to team up with them and bring Wee Free Men to the big screen.”
The first in a series of Discworld novels starring the young witch Tiffany Aching.
A nightmarish danger threatens from the other side of reality. . . .
Armed with only a frying pan and her common sense, young witch-to-be Tiffany Aching must defend her home against the monsters of Fairyland. Luckily she has some very unusual help: the local Nac Mac Feegle—aka the Wee Free Men—a clan of fierce, sheep-stealing, sword-wielding, six-inch-high blue men.
Together they must face headless horsemen, ferocious grimhounds, terrifying dreams come true, and ultimately the sinister Queen of the Elves herself…
